CONTRIBUTION OF SCIENTISTS
ALBERT EINSTEIN
Life of Einstein
Albert Einstein was born in Ulm in Germany on 14th March 1879
He was always excelled at math and physics from a young age
The 12 year old Einstein taught himself algebra and Euclidean geometry
He independently discovered his own original proof of the Pythagorean theorem at age 12
With a few friends he had met in Bern, Einstein started a small discussion group in 1902, self mockingly named ‘The Olympia Academy’., which met regularly to discuss science and philosophy
He accepted a position as technical assistant in the Swiss Patent Office
In 1905, he obtained his doctor’s degree
During his stay at the Patent Office, and in spare time, he produced much of his remarkable work
In 1909, he became Professor Extraordinary at Zurich, in 1911 Professor of Theoretical Physics at Prague.
In 1914, he was appointed as Director of Kaiser Wilhelm Physical Institute and Professor in the University of Berlin
He became United States Citizen in 1940
He died on April 18, 1955 at Princeton, New Jersey
CONTRIBUTION
Albert Einstein is often cited as one of the most influential scientists of the 20th century
His work continues to help astronomers study everything from gravitational waves to Mercury’s orbit
The equation E=mc^2, that helped explain special theory of relativity in 1905, is famous even among those who don’t understand its underlying Physics
Einstein is also known for his theory of general relativity (an explanation of gravity) in 1911
In addition to the theory of relativity, Einstein is also known for his contributions to the development of quantum theory.
He postulated light quanta(photons), upon which he based his explanation of the photoelectric effect, and he developed the quantum theory of specific heat
He won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1921 for his explanation of the photoelectric effect
